The First Socks -- Full Illustrated Instructions

1 Materials and Tools

Materials and Tools

(1) Double pointed needles or circular needles

Four to five (Japanese #6/American #5-#6/British #8) Double Pointed Needles for stocking stitch. Otherwise, two circular needles of the same size.

(2) double pointed needles or circular needles

Four to five (Japanese #3/American #3/British #10) Double Pointed Needles for ribbing. Otherwise, two circular needles of the same size.

(3) A stitch holder

A small holder for resting the stitches. Actually, we don't use a holder. We use a extra short yarn for resting the stitches. We dislike the tendency of a hard holder making the edge stitches bigger.

(4) A crochet hook

For correcting errors and supporting picking up stitches.

(5) A yarn needle

For sewing in and Kitchener Stitches.

(6) A row counter

Only if you prefer using a row counter. You can count it with a sheet of paper and a pencil.

(7) A scissors

Any scissors will do.

(8) A ruler or tape measure

For measuring gauges and fabrics.
